It’s a Bug Story

Or How I Met a Butterfly

Your weekly dose of cat joy, straight from Snowball!

The first time I encountered a butterfly, I was absolutely dazzled. The speed of her wings and the burst of colors—it was mesmerizing! I got so excited I started making some weird noises and just froze on the spot.

Well… the second time was different. I saw a night moth. And I won’t lie to you—I was as quick as thunder, caught her mid-air, and ate her. 😼 😅

That’s my kind of candy!

Only 20% of Orange Cats Are Female

Ready for some science? Cat color is linked to sex chromosomes. Males (XY) only need one orange gene on their single X chromosome to be orange. Females (XX) need the orange gene on both X chromosomes to be orange, so both parents must be orange. An orange mother will always pass the orange gene to her male kittens, making them orange regardless of the father's color.

The First Feline Friend in History

The oldest known pet cat was discovered in a 9,500-year-old grave on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Archaeologists found the remains of a human buried alongside a cat, suggesting a close relationship between them. This burial, dating back to around 7500 BCE, predates ancient Egyptian depictions of domesticated cats by several thousand years and is considered the earliest known evidence of a pet cat.
